My name is Murray Browne. Since my retirement six years ago, I have turned my attention to writing, bookselling, and publishing through Typepad –which went away September 30, 2025. I have since combined four websites —thebookshopper.org (writing), downandoutbound.com (publishing), destinationbooks.net (bookselling via popups and online – no brick and mortar store for me) and murray-browne.com (a composite of my writings and books) — into this site on the WordPress platform. This is an ongoing project.
The blog postings are basically into my musings on books and book culture, which occasionally includes my experiences as bookseller with Destination: Books.

The Gravity’s Rainbow Support Group (GRSG) was founded during the 2020 pandemic by two college classmates who went to Indiana University during the 1970s. It began with reading the Pynchon classic and has continued since then expanding to other books. Sources and commentary and random notes for the novel can be found at the Gravity’s Rainbow Support Group Page.
More recently, a chapter-by chapter summary of Pynchon’s latest novel Shadow TIcket can be found here.
